Exhibition: What They Saw

  • The Media Centre 7 Northumberland Street Huddersfield, HD1 1RL United Kingdom (map)

What They Saw brings together the work of Alan Cyusa and Hassan Ali, two exciting emerging artists and recent graduates of Leeds Arts University. Though their practices are distinct, their work meets in a shared celebration of beauty, culture, community, and personal growth. This exhibition offers a space where their perspectives sit side by side, inviting viewers to pause, reflect, and connect with the artists’ unfolding creative journeys.

Hassan Ali’s elegant, mood-rich figures evoke moments of quiet contemplation. His use of line, colour, and posture captures the nuance of human presence, inviting us to consider the emotional worlds that shape and define us. In contrast, Alan Cyusa’s work offers layered reflections on change, identity, and lived experience. Through expressive forms and thoughtful composition, he explores how personal and cultural histories inform the ways we see ourselves and the spaces we move through.

Together, their practices create a warm and uplifting conversation about the stories we inherit, the ones we choose to tell, and the transformations that guide us forward. What They Saw not only highlights two rising voices in contemporary art but also extends an open invitation to witness the world through their eyes.

The exhibition is free to view, Monday–Friday, 8.30am–4.30pm.

Please note: The exhibition will be closed from Wednesday 24 December 2025 to Thursday 1 January 2026 (inclusive).
