THINK GIGS

Take your brain out for the night!

THINK GIGS is a concept pioneered by HOOT Creative Arts, one of the leading arts and health providers in the country. The idea is simple; a series of events that look a bit more closely at the behaviour of humans and the strange things they do. We’ll apply a psychologically informed approach to some of the key challenges and themes affecting our worlds to see if this sheds a bit more light on them. Add a convivial environment, a bar, some live music & the opportunity to share your views & you’ve got a Think Gig.

November's event explodes the myth of scientific vs artistic thinking.

Are you a convergent or a divert thinker? Right brain or left brain dominated? An artist or a scientist? This gig explores the art of science & the science of art, taking us on a tour of the brain from Brian Cox to Leonardo da Vinci & all places in between. Abandon all stereotypes, all ye who enter.

David Pearson is a Reader in Cognitive Psychology at Anglia Ruskin University & Fellow of the British Psychological Society. A widely published writer, his research is focused on understanding the cognitive processes involved during memory, mental imagery & visuo-spatial thinking.

With Huddersfield's favourite casuistical heresiarchs, Crooks and Claridge, responding to the talk with pitch, rhythm & rhetoric, & an opportunity for a group discussion.

Join us in Café Ollo at The Media Centre in Huddersfield from 7pm.

This event is free to attend, although there will be a ‘pay as you feel’ system in place and opportunities for donations to HOOT Creative Arts (Registered charity no. 1146358)
